The Lokahi Giving (Tree) Project
Mission Statement: The Lokahi Giving Project provides people with opportunities to relieve the burden of struggling individual and families especially the working gap group, through donation of goods, cah equivalents, enriching experiences, and advocacy.
The *Lokahi* Giving Project is a unique partnerhip between Hawai'i's number one new station KHON@ and the family-strengthening non-profit organization, Keiki O Ka 'Aina Family Learning Centers.
Since being established in 1985, by newscaster Leslie Wilcox and Social Services Director Mariellen Jones, Lokahi has helped Hawai'i;s stryggkubg families by providing them with life's baic necessities, year round emergency assistance, and brighter holiday seasons. Lokahi lends a helping hand to those who face a life crisis or emergency situation beyond their control. It not only assists the poorest of the poor, but also the struggling gap group not qualified for asistance by any other programs. Lokahi works hand in hand with over 125 nonprofits, social ervice agencies, shelters, group homes, and hopitals helping the most deserving families and individuals.
Emergency Assistance Program: Year round Lokahi provides families with financial assistance for medical bills,utilitie, houin costs, and other necesary expenes when they are met with an unforeseen crisis.
Lokahi Adopt-A-Family Program: We match a wide range of individual donors as well social group businesses and schools who wish to hare the Lokahi spirit with families or seniors who really need some holiday cheer and basic necessities. Non-profits, group homes, shelters and hospitals refer their most deserving client to participate in this program. Everone can find a way that meets their resource and desire to help.

About Our Partner: Keiki O Ka 'Aina Family Learning Centers have been serving Hawai'i's families for more than a decade. We provide an array of services for families with children including educational claesses, emotional support services, and job training opportunities. Service for over 2000 children and parents are provided atore than 40 community ites including elementary schools, churches, housing project, and district parks on O'ahu and Maui. We have been working closely wth Lokahi for several year and are committed to supporting the vision and goals of Lokahi through our eforts to build strong communitie by building strong families. How You Can Help::
Year round monetary donations, gift cards or gifts-in-kind to the Lokahi Giving Project are gratefully accepted. Gifts will be matched ith families that have specific needs. The gifts may include school supplies, clothing, toys, household goods, or other special items.
